“Answering the Call of October 17 to end poverty: A path toward peaceful and inclusive societies” … « Répondre à l’appel du 17 octobre pour mettre fin
à la pauvreté : un chemin vers des sociétés pacifiques et inclusives » … “Responder al llamado del 17 de octubre a poner fin a la pobreza: una vía hacia sociedades pacíficas e inclusivas”

This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the United Nations International Day for theEradication of Poverty which is observed on October 17 each year. This year also marks the 30th Anniversary of the World Day for Overcoming Extreme Poverty which inspired the UN’s recognition of October 17 as its day to honour the dignity and daily struggle of people living in poverty.

To mark this auspicious double anniversary, the United Nations together with NGOs, civil society and people living in poverty selected the theme: “Answering the Call of October 17 to end poverty: A path toward peaceful and inclusive societies”. The International Committee for October 17 has issued a concept note on the theme of the observance in 2017 in various languages. The International Movement ATD Fourth World and the International Committee for October 17 have joined forces to launch an international Call to Action to mark this very special year. We invite you to join us and pledge your support to end poverty everywhere. Visit the campaign website Stop-Poverty to answer to the Call to Action and post your personal commitment on the wall mosaic.
